In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.Matthew 28:1‭, ‬7‭-‬8 KJV

After Jesus was killed, died, and was buried, because Joseph of Arimathaea buried His body in the sepulchre, the chief priest and the Pharisees came to Pilate, telling him to secure the sepulchre, that is, set soldiers to watch over the place where Jesus was buried, their reason was so that the disciples of Jesus will not come and steal His body away by night and deceive them that He is risen.

They heard Jesus said that He would die and rise from the dead on the third day, but this, they did not believe, because they took Jesus to be an ordinary man like them. When they killed him, in their hearts they thought they had seen the end of who they saw as a deceiver. Pilate gave them the permission to secure the sepulchre as they want, which they did. A very big stone was used to seal the sepulchre, with night guards watching over the place, so that no one would come there and steal the body of Jesus away.

On the third day, as Jesus prophesied, He was raised from the dead. When the women got to the place where Jesus was buried very early in the morning, who they saw was an angel of God, Jesus was no more in the grave, because He had risen. Jesus rose from the dead. They found the great stone that was used to secure the tomb roll away, and the tomb empty; the empty Tomb was the proof of His resurrection.

Death couldn’t hold Jesus in the grave, the great stone couldn’t prevent Him from coming out of the grave, the angel of God who was assigned to watch over the sepulchre had roll the stone away. Hallelujah! Jesus was dead, but He is not dead now, for He is risen, and lives forever.

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the proof of our victory over and sin. Because He rose from the dead, we have overcome sin and Satan, we can no longer be bound by Satan, we have the victory. Jesus won the victory over sin and over Satan, and gave us the victory; because Jesus rose from the dead, you have become a winner, a champion, and a free man. Hallelujah, He is risen, so celebrate His resurrection, because He resurrection is the guarantee of your victory over sin and Satan.

He died to take our sins away, but He rose back to life to make us victorious; so, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Praise the Lord.

Our heavenly Father, we thank you for the death of Jesus Christ, which was to take our sins away, but we thank you more for His resurrection which was for our victory of sin and Satan; today, we are more than conquerors because of what Jesus had done. Hallelujah!
