Topic: Glorify God In Your Body
Author: Pastor Abraham David
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
As we read the scriptures, especially, the epistles, we need to understand the people to whom they are written; the epistles are not written to everybody, they are written to the Saints.
Our today’s scripture asked a question, it says, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price…” It is the Christian, a born again child of God whose body is the temple of God, not everybody. The Holy Spirit does not live in all men, He lives only in the children of God. For this reason, we can’t turn to a sinner and begin to ask him, ‘don’t you know that your body is the temple of God?’ His body is not the temple of God because he or she doesn’t know God.
Only the person who is born again can glorify God in his or her body, and this is something we need to do always, because our body no longer belong to us, but to Christ, the one who sacrificed His life for us and bought us with His precious blood.
If you are genuinely born again, you should understand that you can’t live like those who are not or have never been born again; they can do anything with and in their body, because they are under the control of Satan, but when you are born again, Satan lose every right he has over you and Jesus becomes the Master. From the time Jesus becomes the Master, you should make sure no sin is allowed in your body, especially the sin of sexual immorality, because what this sin does is give Satan direct access to you to possess your body.
Live every time with the consciousness that God must be honoured in your body; your body as a Christian does not belong to you, and does not belong to your boyfriend or girlfriend, for this reason, sex outside marriage is not good for you; any kind of love play outside of marriage is not good for you, it would harm you, so stay away completely from all appearance of evil and live in righteousness.
Precious Father, I am your home, my body is where you dwell; I ask that you be glorified in my body, so that I can be a good example for other Christians of righteousness, in Jesus name. Amen.
