Topic: Godliness Is Highly Profitable
Author: Pastor Abraham David
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
1 Timothy 4:8 KJV
Many of us like to exercise our body, which is good, but we need to understand that, even though we need to always exercise our body so that we can stay fit and strong, practicing godliness is much more needed than the physical exercise.
Goodliness is spiritual training, training in holy living, this has greater value than building of your physical body, and your muscles, because man is spirit, and only his size, and the things he does spiritually counts the most.
You need to understand that the devil has no respect for your physical size, in fact, the more muscles you have, the more your physical size, the more easier it is for the devil to attack, hit, and knock you down; the only thing you can do to put him under is to practice gooliness, because your godly living will expose him when he comes near you, and so for this reason, he would make sure he stays far from the person who can expose him and beat him down.
The flesh always wants to oppose the spirit, that’s why the spirit has to be prioritized, because only the things you do in the spirit, only the things that pertain to the Spirit has eternal value: they have value both in this present life and for eternity. Whatever you do to your body is only temporal, it would end only in this world and only while you are alive, the moment your spirit leaves the body, the whole body becomes a waste, ordinary matter which would decompose in a very short time.
Practice godliness and stay away from sin, because sin only builds the body, it will strengthen your flesh and make it suppress your spirit man. Give no occasion therefore for sin in your body, but exercise yourself unto godliness. Our scriptural text in the Amplified says, *”for physical training is of some value, but godliness (spiritual training) is of value in everything and in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”*
Precious Father, you are my God, and your word is my life; I live my life daily according to your word, letting your word and your Spirit direct the affairs of my life in the way of righteousness, in Jesus name. Amen.
