Topic: The People Of God Went Out Of Egypt
Author: Pastor Abraham David
And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:41 KJV
The children of Israel obeyed God’s instructions and kept the passover, for this reason, they were protected from the destroyer, and no plague came on them, but all the firstborns of the Egyptians, of both man and beasts were killed that same night that the children of Israel ate the passover and were kept safe.
To the children of Israel, that night was a great night of divine protection from destruction, but for the Egyptians, it was a horror night, a night of great disaster which fell on them. This incident that night made Pharaoh and the whole of Egypt forced the people of God out of their land, so the children of Israel went out of Egypt when judgement came on their slave masters.
Before the instruction to keep the passover, Pharaoh, several times had refused to let the people go. God, through Moses and Aaron did many great signs, but all the signs made Pharaoh changed his mind only for a short time, after which he would harden his heart again against the people of God. He was confident in his power and his gods, but this time around, his gods could not prevent him from the evil that was coming until judgement was executed against him and the whole of his land. The scripture says in Exodus 12:51, “And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.”
To the Israelites and the entire nation, this season is a great season, and a time of great celebration of the great deliverance God did in bringing their hosts out of Egypt, the land of slavery and great torture. But this season is not only special to the Israelites, but also to us who are in Christ, for what Christ did.
If by striking the blood of an animal on the lintel and the two side posts of the houses of the children of Israel the people were preserved and delivered from destruction, imagine what the blood of Jesus would do. Therefore, as you celebrate this Easter, take out time to reflect on what God had done for you in Jesus Christ and live a life that shows how grateful you are to Him.
Precious Father, thank you for this special season, thank you for delivering us from the power and the dominion of darkness through Jesus Christ; as we celebrate this season of great deliverance, we become more conscious of you, and live to glorify you, in Jesus name. Amen.
